How to Pick the Right Window Shades for Your Doors

If you’re a homeowner you probably know that doors can present challenges. If they have a built in window, they let in light and can hinder your privacy. Luckily for you, there are many treatment options for doors. When we talk to our customers, there are generally three main things that we tell them to look for:

• Privacy
• Temperature Control
• Functionality

Privacy

If you have a door that’s covered in glass, having a treatment over it is important. You want to prevent neighbors from peering into your home. Purchasing a set of shades to cover your door is a wise investment; they’ll keep your private moments private and provide the feeling of security that you want to feel in your home.

Temperature Control

Window treatments add extra efficiency to your home, helping you save on your utility bills year-round. In the summertime, they keep heat from seeping in and eliminating the cool air. And I just shudder to imagine shadeless french doors in the middle of winter – think of all that hot air escaping! In the winter months, the right window treatments will trap warm air in your home.

Functionality

Once you equip your doors with window shades, you want to ensure that they open and close correctly. To do this, we recommend that you mount your shades above the door’s window panes. If you decide to mount it elsewhere, this could hinder the way the door opens and closes. Opt for one of the two types of hold downs offered through our website to keep your shade from banging the door when you enter and exit. Give us a call and we’ll be happy to help you figure out the best place to mount your shades.

Because of the extra insulating properties associated with our cellular honeycomb shades, we recommend using them on your doors. Our wide selection of colors all a perfect match to your interior décor. To talk to one of our experts, pick up the phone and call us today at 877-887-4239.

  1. I have been thinking I need new window blinds, but I don’t know what to look for. I do like how in the photo the accordion blinds cover the whole window. I like how that give privacy, but then I can let in as much light as I want.

  2. I agree that purchasing shades is a wise investment. We just moved into a house, and none of the windows have blinds. It kind of scares me. So, now my husband and I have to go and look for a bunch of different size of shades.
